Carrie McBride is quickly becoming one of my favorite blog authors when it comes to promoting literacy. She is not only passionate about reading but we apparently have the same taste in literature. Check out her suggestions for book series that every family should own.
We suggest choosing a series that you'll enjoy as much as your children. Perhaps revisiting a childhood favorite or one you always meant to read but never got around to. We also suggest choosing a series that is a little above your child's reading level - in addition to their own summer reading, being read to is a huge pleasure and a marvelous way to start or end the day together as a family.
Here are some of our favorites, in no particular order. Please add to the list in the comments.
Harry Potter by J.K. Rowland
Little House on the Prairie by Laura Ingalls Wilder
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket
