Last fall I read a study that was conducted in a Pre-School classroom setting, as a matter of fact, I have found large handful of studies that examine literacy in the pre-school setting and how the pre-school setting can be altered to increase a child's reading readiness skills. That's great for a classroom, but what can you do at home?
Increasing print in your child's little world is an element of early literacy that can not be over looked. I found these products which can be purchased at here. You receive a pdf that allows you to print these little creations over and over as need. If you'll notice, there are simple words, with simple text that is non-commercial (no McDonald's brand stuff here). Young children learn through so many outlets and one that should be a main focus is play. We could all probably think of something that a child could learn by playing "grocery" store at home but when your child plays, you only have to tell them one or two times what the items are before they learn to "read" the word on the product.
Neskita did a great job keeping this product simple and readable. Visit her store, if you see she is out of this product, simply ask her to list more. She'll be more than happy too. Her name is Sonia and is Chilean at birth, she is a translator by profession but is very talented when it comes to her creations. Read her story here.
